Orthopaedic Trauma and Fracture Surgery

I am an orthopaedic trauma surgeon at Elliot Hospital, an ACS Level II trauma center, where I provide the full spectrum of adult and pediatric trauma and fracture surgery with a subspecialty interest in total shoulder replacement.

Injuries are disruptive and their decisions often have to be made quickly. My aim in the office is to be clear about what the injury is, what the reasonable options are — including not operating — and where the evidence is less settled than it may appear.

Trauma & fracture surgery

I treat the full spectrum of adult and pediatric orthopaedic trauma and fracture conditions, alongside the more typical injuries and conditions like wrist, hip, shoulder, ankle, and tendon injuries.

How I examine evidence

Orthopaedic evidence is often less settled than it appears. I study this problem formally, publishing on uncertainty, bias, and reasoning in surgical decisions, and I bring the same scrutiny to my recommendations in the office.

My stance on industry payments

I have never accepted consulting fees, royalties, or payments from device companies, and I never will. Treatment decisions belong between surgeon and patient, guided by evidence and judgment alone.

My research

My work in orthopaedic epistemology examines how surgeons reason under uncertainty, the biases that shape clinical judgment, and the philosophical assumptions embedded in everyday practice.
